Lavender Mystical, 2016 endurance painting, performance, + video
In this project, Lavender Mystical, I am examining my position as a female painter in a lineage of a historically male dominated medium.
This work is conceptually driven conceptually by my ironic and humorous desire to “whip the drip” of Jackson Pollock from his iconic 1950s “drip paintings.”
This piece includes: A 45 minute single-channel video of a the endurance painting/performance and the three artifacts of the performance are displayed as paintings.
Materials used include: Lavender latex house paint, Noble Blush latex house paint, Cream latex house paint, eggs, milk, flour, foundation make-up, lipstick, cotton balls, calamine lotion, on stretched unprimed canvas.
